Power Supply Design Tool

Switch Mode Power Supply Design with AI

Design Stable Analog and Digital Power Supplies in Minutes — Now with AI

Biricha Design is the next generation of Biricha’s power supply design software: the trusted analytical design engines of WDS and PLD, rebuilt as one modern engineering environment that runs entirely in your browser at design.biricha.com. Nothing to install, nothing to license per machine: sign in with your Biricha account and your designs are waiting for you, on any computer.

Power supply control loop design is hard: measuring plant transfer functions, placing poles and zeros, stabilising a converter across line and load – and then doing it all again in firmware for a digital controller. Biricha Design removes this complexity entirely. Enter your specification, and the same analytical method we teach in our world-renowned power supply design workshops calculates your power stage, designs your compensator, and shows you the loop’s Bode plot with crossover frequency, phase margin and gain margin instantly and updated live with every value you change.

Describe Your Power Supply. The AI Builds It.

New in Biricha Design: type one sentence — â€śI need 12 V at 10 A from a 48 V rail” or â€śa 3 kW AC-DC power supply” â€” and the AI Design Wizard asks the questions a design engineer would ask, chooses a suitable topology, and hands you a complete, stable, fully-calculated starting design in the right tool. A 48 V telecom brick lands in the DC-DC designer as an isolated full-bridge with its transformer and compensator already designed; a mains-fed front end arrives as a complete AC-DC chain with the PFC stage pre-configured.

Once you’re designing, the Biricha Design Assistant works alongside you inside the tool. It is not a generic chatbot: it reads your actual design, runs the real stability analysis, and can change parameters for you. Ask it â€śwhy is my phase margin low?” and it diagnoses from your numbers; tell it â€śfix it” and it makes the correction, re-checks the loop, and reports the new margins.

The Complete DC-DC Design Environment

Everything engineers valued in WDS, in the browser:

  • Power stage design with full component stress analysis — duty cycle across the line range, inductor and capacitor selection, ripple and undershoot targets
  • Analog compensator design (Type II / Type III) with component values for your op-amp network — including opto-isolated TL431 feedback for isolated designs
  • Digital controller design with C-ready coefficients for popular microcontroller families — the same loop, implemented in firmware, with sampling delay correctly compensated
  • Voltage mode and peak current mode control, with slope compensation where the topology demands it
  • Transformer design for isolated topologies: turns ratio, magnetising inductance, leakage and winding parasitics, clamp/snubber design
  • Live Bode plots of plant, compensator and loop gain — drag the poles and zeros and watch the loop respond
  • Switching and conduction loss analysis, gate-drive and snubber design
  • Circuit-level SPICE simulation in the cloud — verify your loop and transient response against a switching model, no simulator installation required
  • Printable design reports with your full specification, component values, schematic and Bode plots
  • Imports your existing WDS design files, so nothing you have built is left behind

Twelve Topologies. One Method.

  • Buck
  • Boost (CCM and DCM)
  • Flyback (CCM and DCM)
  • Forward
  • Two-Switch Forward
  • Half Bridge
  • Full Bridge
  • Push-Pull
  • Inverting Buck-Boost
  • SEPIC
  • …plus a generic Bode-import mode for compensating any plant you can measure

From the Wall Socket to the Load: AC-DC System Design

Real products are not a single converter — they are a chain. Biricha Design lets you design the whole system on one canvas: a power factor correction front end feeding your DC-DC stage, with the specification flowing automatically between them. Change the PFC output voltage and your DC-DC input range follows; every stage always agrees with its neighbours.

  • PFC designer (the PLD engine): boost PFC power stage, current and voltage loop design, analog controllers and digital 2p2z implementations, hold-up time capacitor sizing
  • DC-DC stage designed downstream of the regulated bus, with a realistic isolated topology chosen for your power level
  • EMC input filter designer — coming soon: conducted-emissions filter design on interactive impedance paper, following the same procedure as our EMC workshop

The Workshop Method, In Software

Biricha Design is built by the same engineers who teach Biricha’s analog and digital power supply design workshops — trusted by engineers at hundreds of companies worldwide. The software follows the workshop design procedure step for step: what you learn in the class is exactly what the tool calculates, so it doubles as the perfect companion for workshop attendees and as an everyday design environment for practising engineers. And with Biricha Learn, the theory is never more than a click away.
