Online Power Supply Hardware Design Workshop

Written and presented by Dr Ali Shirsavar in his easy to follow style, this workshop starts from the basics and guides you through the complete design of a DC-DC power supply.

Unlike many university courses or theory focused training programs, this workshop is specifically designed to guide participants through the real engineering calculations and practical decision making required to select appropriate components for a working power supply design.

All design procedures, trade offs, calculations, and component selection are covered, including appropriate safety margins, using clear, bite sized, and accessible explanations. Although the examples in this workshop are based on a Buck converter, the design techniques learned can be applied broadly to many DC DC power supply topologies.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to design fully functional Buck power supplies with all component part numbers specified.

Isolated Flyback Power Supply Design Workshop

In this workshop, participants will learn how to design opto-isolated Flyback power supplies, including opto-isolated control loops.

The workshop covers design procedures, decision-making processes, compromises, calculations, and the selection of suitable components, including necessary safety margins.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to design fully functional opto-isolated Flyback power supplies, with all component part numbers specified.

Hands-On Design Example Workshop

This is a hands-on design workshop focused on real-life design practices. Using a combination of videos, presentations, and laboratory notes, we build upon the material and design examples from our theoretical workshops, guiding participants through a complete design process—component by component.

As you progress through the workshop, you will solder the relevant components onto your design example kit, step by step, until your power supply is fully assembled.
